More Artsygal Yarn Porn!

This first one is Artsygal Laceweight in Moody Blues. It's subtle variegation makes it perfect for the Peacock Feathers shawl, as it will seem to shimmer like real feathers. The base yarn is Zephyr, a delicious wool/silk blend.
This yummy bright shiny bit is more Artsy sock yarn, in Sunfire. But this is Mel's yarn, not mine (she WILL get it soon). I love the way the shades blend together.
This fun festival of color is Artygal sock yarn in Cinco de Mayo. It's also Mel's yarn. This picture is pretty true to the actual colors, and they are absolutely divine on the skein. I can't wait to see what it knits up into!

Artsygal Yarn Porn Friday!

Ohhh... isn't it pretty? It's Wild Berry Knittles, hand-painted superwash merino fingerweight, dyed by Artsygal herself. It's from the quickly-vanished first batch of her sock yarn, and it's mine, all mine! It will become (someday) the Seduction Socks, but for now I like to pet it and cuddle it and then hide it away. I love all those rich colors!

I have more Artsygal Yarn Porn, but it shall have to wait until Sunday, when I can get online a bit more. For now, I get to go pick up more dropped stitches from Icarus (someone smack me if I set it down mid-row again - please?).

UFO's!

Alas, the invasion is coming! I have UFO's all over the place. Well, actually, these are only two of them. I'll post more later. The first one is icarus mark 1. next is an image of the fuzzy bunny blankie thing I'm doing. After that is Icarus Mark 2 (after ripping out the first and re-starting - I'm now in my first repeat of the first chart). And then finally a closeup of the nummy cotton.

Yarn Pr0n Friday!

I finally have some yarn Pr0n! I went to the glorious LYS this week, and got the most wonderfully soft yummilicious cotton. It's Patagonia Nature Cotton by Araucania Yarns, in a luscious shade of blue, as seen here.
I'm making it into the Bunny Blanket Buddy. It'll be the perfect gift for a little boy who will have 3 big sisters when he's born in May. Very cuddly and soft and littly boy blue.

Next, we have the green HandPaintedYarns.com laceweight in Eucalyptus. April sent it to me, and I'm using it to make Icarus. Here is a piccy of the full ball, all wound up, nice and close. It's a little sticky, but it's working well on my Addi Natura needles. A good way to start knitting lace, I think! And Icarus is the ideal beginners lace pattern. It's very basic at the beginning, giving plenty of time to build confidence before getting into the difficult stuff.

Here's Icarus so far, right now we have the Barbie shawl size. I like the way the variegation is working in the pattern so far. No real pooling, looks pretty good, I think! Not so bad for a lace-knitting-noob, eh?

Oh! I bought Knit-wit not too long ago so I could get the kid-sized pattern for Fuzzy Feet. After getting the book, I noticed that Cascade 220 was used in several of the patterns. So while at the LYS, I picked up a skein. And now I know why it's so popular!

My skein is a delightful shade of Heathers, a lavender-lilac-type color. It has some great spots of blueish-purple, too. And it's so soft and snuggly. I can't wait to see how it ends up working out in the socks! I'm making these ones for Amber, I think. Then once I get the technique down I'll make pairs for others in the family.

And finally, a ball of leftover sari silk that I bought from the amazing Stephanie at The WoolPeddler. I used it to make Unbiased, and have this ball leftover. I'm gonna make a camera-case-holder out of it. I just love the way the silk shines - the glow is simply the sun reflecting off the yarn in the picture. I didn't do any real modification of the picture at all! It's that wonderfully shiny.
Coming up next... Artsygal Yarn Porn!

Knitting Again

After much grumbling about not knowing what to knit, I finally figured something out. I'm making the Lion Bunny Blanket Buddy. It's being knit from a basic jeweltone blue variegate acrylic worsted, but it's still coming out quite lovely. I'm already done with the arms, it should be pretty much complete today. I just need to get something to fill the head with. I think I'll make a few of these up - they're really quick and easy!

It's the perfect side-project for my next MAJOR project - Icarus. I should be getting the yarn and pattern for Icarus next week. Yay! April is sending it out on Friday.

I also ordered yarn from Artsygal. I got 1 1/2 skeins of the Moody Blue. No, Artsy does not typically sell by the 1/2 skein (before you ask). Mel and I ordered together and are splitting one skein. So we can make the Peacock Shawl. This is a happy thing.

And once I have shawl-age done, I'm gonna make the flaming skirt. More on that later.

But I have a screaming boy at my feet, and a raging headache and other nasty female things going on, so I'll post more info when I feel like a human again.
